Open Options Introduces Intelligent 2-Door Controller

The new Open Options SSP-D2 offers a powerful solution in a single IP-based intelligent controller

CARROLLTON, Texas, June 1, 2007 - Open Options, Inc. announced the formal release of the SSP-D2, a native IP-ready intelligent controller with a built-in reader interface module allowing control of two doors right off the board and a total of 64 using additional reader and/or IO modules. The SSP-D2 connects directly to the LAN and supports 10x faster downloads than conventional serial connections. Standard with 6 MB of available flash RAM and packed with features unmatched in the industry, the Open Options SSP-D2 is the perfect solution for expanding systems and customers who want access control at the edge.

Additionally, the Open Options SSP-D2 fully supports the new Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) allowing bidirectional connections to 485 smart readers and biometric devices. OSDP adds to the already extensive range of reader and biometric options currently available from Open Options.

The integrated IP on the SSP-D2 not only means faster more efficient connections to the host, but also less equipment and connections to manage compared to earlier generation panels. Open Options has made IP simple by including DHCP for auto-assigning IP addresses and device name recognition for easy management with a DNS server.

Other benefits of the SSP-D2 include new burg/IDS features for managing secured areas, advanced area management and anti-passback support, and background firmware downloads with system configuration restored from flash memory for seamless updates. In addition, the SSP-D2 now accepts a range of 12- 24 VDC input voltage giving way to many new options in power distribution.
